Our environmental protection efforts are confirmed by obtaining the internationally recognized ISO 14001 certification, which sets strict standards for environmental management and the continuous improvement of our processes.

Reducing Carbon Footprint

Halving $CO_2$ emissions from our activities by 2030 compared to 2019 levels.

Through all the green initiatives we implement, from project planning to construction itself, we work toward two main goals. We strive to build sustainable and safe urban neighborhoods for people and to act as responsibly as possible toward the environment.

DID YOU KNOW THAT...
a large part of a building's energy consumption during its use consists of heating?

Using geothermal heat is the most effective way to reduce residential emissions because heating a home with geothermal energy puts no burden on nature at all—provided that the electricity required for the geothermal heating system is green.
It is estimated that using geothermal heat reduces energy emissions during operation by approximately 50%.

Thanks to Finnish YIT, residents of Helsinki can heat their homes using cold seawater. Read about the world's largest project for extracting heat from seawater. We plan to introduce geothermal heating in an increasing number of projects here as well. In the planned energy concept for Mlynárka, we intend to use heat pumps as a heat source, which will help us reduce operational $CO_2$

We realize that the structural and material decisions we make have an impact for decades; therefore, we constantly research alternative solutions in materials, energy, and production, and we are increasingly replacing construction materials with the most ecological alternatives.

Prefabrication

Prefabrication brings numerous benefits that our clients appreciate. These include, for example

Faster construction, unaffected by weather complications.
Greener construction thanks to fewer material delivery trucks and less frequent removal of construction waste.
Better acoustic and fire-safety properties of buildings.

We first utilized prefabrication during the construction of NUPPU Magnolia. You can find the last available apartments in Magnolia 1 and 2 HERE.

Timber Buildings

Sustainability, energy efficiency, and a healthier living environment are just some of the benefits that timber buildings offer.

Wood is a renewable material that, when managed properly, does not deplete our natural resources. At the same time, its extraction and processing are less energy-intensive compared to other building materials.
Timber houses have excellent thermal insulation, which reduces the need for heating in winter and cooling in summer.
Wood has a natural ability to regulate humidity, creating a healthy and comfortable indoor environment.
Wood allows for wide design possibilities and adaptability during the building's lifetime. This is also why we are a proud co-founder of the Initiative for Modern Timber Buildings, which we support alongside the Slovak Green Building Council (SKGBC) together with other associations, companies, and experts from the academic environment. The goal is to change current legislation and standards so that we can build timber buildings up to a height of 22.5 m.

Concrete and steel

Various concrete products are the largest source of emissions due to both their emission factors and the quantities used. Reducing the emission impact of these products will be particularly important in achieving emission reduction goals within projects. The next largest source of emissions is steel and reinforcement, depending on the project's structural solutions, as well as various types of insulation, such as gypsum boards.

We recycle construction wasteWe recycle construction waste

We sort at least 75% of waste on our construction sites for recycling.

We focus on the most efficient methods of waste separation and recovery. This ranges from clear visual instructions to achieve the best possible separation directly on-site, to maximum waste control through a strategic primary waste hauler who transports well-sorted waste for recovery and recycling. Despite higher costs for waste recovery, we prioritize these ecological solutions.
Ideally, we can recover the generated waste directly, effectively turning it into a secondary material utilized during construction. However, these solutions must be evaluated individually.
An even more important goal for the future consists of measures that eliminate waste generation at the source, such as the use of prefabricated and modular elements in construction. This is where we see the future of building.

Saving water effortlesslySaving water effortlessly

There are never enough green solutions for our projects, and we are glad that we manage to implement more of them with each new development. One such solution includes the retention tanks that are part of the ZWIRN area, as well as our water-saving sanitary products.

Specialized tanks are designed to capture and store rainwater. This water is subsequently released back into the soil and used to irrigate the surrounding greenery.
This solution not only reduces dependence on potable water for irrigation but also helps regulate the volume of water entering the sewage system.

As standard equipment in our projects, we use faucets, showers, and toilets with water-saving fittings. Every apartment in our projects is equipped with its own water meter, meaning you only pay for the water you actually consume.

Carsharing

The trend of a constantly increasing urban population is also responsible for city pollution, with transportation being a key issue. It is not only behind pollution but also massive traffic jams, fueled by the fact that often only one person sits in a single car. By using shared cars, we effectively contribute to easing traffic in large cities while also saving the environment. Since November 2019, residents of the NUPPU project have been the first in Slovakia to be able to rent shared cars intended exclusively for them.

Cycling

In our projects, we also keep cyclists in mind by providing secure bicycle storage within the apartment buildings. We support cycling through well-designed bike rooms. We believe that even these small details to increase cyclist comfort will help more people make the decision to switch from cars to a more ecological form of transport.

Electric vehicles

Electric vehicles and plug-in hybrids are becoming increasingly widespread, especially among those who commute more than 10 km to work. We support the use of electric vehicles by reserving electric charging station capacity for parking spaces in every residential building, allowing for the installation of charging equipment as needed.

We pay a great deal of attention to selecting responsible suppliers, as they significantly influence the sustainability level of our construction and help us achieve our goals in reducing produced $CO_2$

We call on our partners in the supply chain to contribute to achieving significant emission reductions. In the case of construction materials, this specifically concerns concrete and steel products.

At the same time, we are proud to collaborate with suppliers who boast Gold or Platinum certificates from the globally recognized organization EcoVadis.

We support biodiversityWe support biodiversity

Cities play a vital role in preserving biodiversity.
We strive to protect biodiversity throughout our entire supply chain through our own measures. In our activities, we take into account the prerequisites of sustainable environmental construction.

The planting of new trees, shrubs, lawns, and flower beds is a standard part of our projects. Wherever technically possible, we also design intensive and extensive green roofs.

Every person can have a significant impact on their carbon footprint at home by making their daily habits more environmentally friendly. If you are not building your own home, you cannot influence decisions made during the design and construction phases, such as energy efficiency or the heating system. However, you can choose an apartment where the designer and builder have made ecological decisions, enabling low-emission living and an eco-friendly lifestyle.
